Reflections Of Rest
Rest has shown up in many forms throughout my life.
I've been called lazy.
I've been told I should rest more.
I've spent days lounging around trying to recharge but really just checking out.
I've spent days pushing through until overwhelm and anxiety took over, the tears starting to flow and I'm forced into rest.
What I've realized is that neither side feels like restful.
Lately, I've been wondering if rest is less about what we're doing and more about how we're feeling while we're doing it.
Is it prioritizing sleep?
Is it taking a few minutes for stillness?
Does it matter what you are doing, as long as you are present?
Is it time spent in community with supportive people and laughter?
Is it a night watching your favourite shows or scrolling on socials?
Does true rest require the body, mind, and soul to be restored together, or can each find rest in its own way?
Rest likely looks different for each of us. As we head into the weekend, I encourage you to play with rest and see what happens.
When do you feel most rested?
